Pinus pinaster, also known as Cluster Pine is creating much interest in anti-cancer treatments at present and claims of pine bark extract protecting against arthritis, allergies complications from diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and problems with circulation such as swelling and varicose veins are seen as very likely.
Other reported benefits include improved memory, fewer effects from stress, better joint flexibility, lower blood pressure, and decreased inflammation.
Seeds strike reasonably fast and are quite small for a pine but are quite easy to germinate.
Trees grow about 20m in height and prefer a dryish, slightly acid soil.
The bark can begin to be used after 2 years of normal growth.
