Erythrina crista-galli, often known as the cockspur coral tree, is a flowering tree in the family Fabaceae, native to Argentina, Uruguay, southern Brazil and Paraguay.

Some sources say that it will not grow true to type, but the environmental impact in selected areas is from seed distribution and these are true to type.
We have never had a 'variation' germinate here.

They form a very picturesque deciduous tree up to 6m tall.
Small spur-like thorns on new growth but sparsely distributed on older trees.
Flowers loved by Bees and birds as they are nectar rich.
Excellent summer shade tree, loved by Great Danes.
